Each year, many of us enjoy sending and receiving Christmas cards—it is a cherished tradition. For those of us who include news-filled letters or notes with our cards, we are providing a slice-of-life glimpse into our life journey up to that point.

Although Advent falls at a certain point in the Church Year, the growth we experience during this season is a continuation of our larger faith journey. As part of our journey this season, authors Magrey deVega and Rob Fuquay invite us to read a very specific set of Christmas letters and see the locales on which they focus anew.

Meet the Authors

Magrey R. deVega is the Senior Pastor at Hyde Park United Methodist Church in Tampa, Florida. He is the author of several books, including The Bible Year, Savior, Almost Christmas, Embracing the Uncertain, One Faithful Promise, and Songs for the Waiting. Magrey is a graduate of United Theological Seminary in Dayton, Ohio, and Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, Florida, and the father of two daughters, Grace and Madelyn.

Rob Fuquay is the senior pastor of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church in Indianapolis, Indiana. He has served various congregations with his gifts of strong preaching, leadership development, and visioning. Rob is the author of The Passion Play: Living the Story of Christ's Last Days, a six session Lenten study based on the Oberammergau tradition, A New Reformation: From Luther’s World to Ours and The God We Can Know, a 7-week study designed for the entire congregation to explore the “I Am” sayings of Jesus found in the Gospel of John. He is also the author of Which Way, Lord: Exploring Your Life’s Purpose in the Journeys of Paul on how to discern and follow God’s leading.
